Val's Coffee Corner
In a project inspired by Max Kolo's anonymous poster redesigns in NYC, students were tasked with locating a poster in their local area which could benefit from a redesign and creating a cohesive set of three redesigns.
The Topic
My project focused on a popular local woman-owned coffee spot: "Val's Coffee Corner" located in the Ocean Beach neighborhood of San Deigo, California. The owner, Val, brings Brazilian flavor and style to her products. This playful essence is something I hoped to capture in my design.
Design Strategy
My goals for this project were to keep the existing feeling or identity of the space, because it is already successful in the community, but create a more professional and clean design. Clean shouldn't mean plain, which is why I included the bright colors and visually interesting patterns throughout the three assigned posters.
