Partnerships in Education And Resilience (PEAR)

Rebranding Project for Partnerships in Education and Resilience (PEAR)

The Assignment

For the final project in a graphic design class, I was tasked with reimagining the branding of Massachusetts-based "Partnerships in Education and Resilience (PEAR)" by creating a logo and piece of collateral for the brand.

PEAR is a research-based Education Technology (EdTech) company which focuses on the developmental needs of humans as they age through the education system. Their primary model, the Clover Model, guides their practice.

During the original client meeting, PEAR recommended we (students) include a visual clover, and consider using similar colors to their existing branding. PEAR wants to be seen as a well connected, research-based thought leader, and the branding should reflect this.

My Design - Full Presentation Here

When designing my take on PEAR's branding, I wanted to research what visuals other Edtech companies utilize. I found a consistent use of sharp, geometric shapes, color blocking, and cleanliness. I Decided to bring some of these elements into an adaptation of a clover, including elements which tie into PEAR's Clover Model of youth development. The 4 Leafs of the Clover Model, and how I incorporate them into my design, are as followed:

Assertiveness: The sharp, vibrant inner corners of the clover leaves contrast with the soft and rounded edges of the leaves.

Belonging: The clover leaves “fade in” from the center of the logo, implying each pillar of the model grows from a central source.

Reflection: Each leaf is geometrically identical.

Active Engagement: The inner/central triangular shapes extend past the edges of the clover leaves, promoting the connectivity amongst each pillar of the Clover Model.

My chosen piece of collateral is a bussiness card, as representatives from PEAR discussed in our initial client meeting the consistency of in-person and word-of-mouth encounters through panels, conventions, and other meetups for the Edtech and related industries.
